Schroeder Siblings

It sure was fun to see Vivian and Juliet again. Juliet was super happy and very curious about the photo setup. She seemed to enjoy sitting with the props and she LOVED the blocks. The only time she cried this session was when we tried to take the blocks away from her. :-) And Vivian was extremely patient with me. I almost didn't post any black and whites of these because the color photos are so nice. But I ended up liking them in black/white just as well!

Tipton Family

I had the Tipton Family come visit me again last weekend. It sure is fun to see babies grow! Last time I saw Matthew he was just two weeks old! Now, he's four months old and boy, he looks like his older brother Will! Rebecca wanted Matthew's 4-month photos as well as some family photos. They also wanted a couple photos of Matthew in his baptismal gown. I asked if it was a family heirloom and though it's new to their family, they are hoping it becomes an heirloom. They are embroidering each child's name on the slip of the dress! Very cool!

Roseland Family

Yay! One of my all-time favorite families! I can say that because they ARE family! :-) We have been trying to do family photos for my cousin Cindy and her family, oh, since about May I think. I believe this is probably the fourth time (at least) that we had to reschedule and we FINALLY got it worked out for last Saturday. And it wasn't snowing OR raining! And it wasn't FREEZING! All of this was a major feat the second week of November. This same week last year, we had a blizzard. It was pretty dark by the time we took the photos. But at least she has some photos she can use for her Christmas card! :-) And as an added bonus we all finally got to hang out afterwards.

 

Elizabeth--6 years

Oh sweet Elizabeth! She makes taking her photo sooo easy! This session was a lot of fun, mostly because I've known Elizabeth and her mom for a couple years now and its always fun to see them! But also, because we had great light and her outfit was super fun with my backgrounds. :-)

As a photographer, I get bored if I do the same poses over and over again on the same backgrounds. So I try to keep my eyes open when I'm blog reading or on Pinterest for things that could inspire me. Not long ago, I came across this idea for a holiday backdrop on Pinterest. I tried it out with my own kids (you'll see their photos in a future post coming up soon) with white lights and it worked pretty well. I thought it would be sooo fun to try it with colored lights and Elizabeth and Valerie were willing to be my guinea pigs. Now, I'll be honest here. Not everything I try works out. While it's a super cute photo of Elizabeth, it was a lot brighter day than when I took my kids photos so the lights didn't show up quite as well hre. I won't give up though. I think this could be a really cute idea! I just have to experiment and get the lighting right. :-)

This was my absolute favorite of the session!! Sooo bright and colorful and fun! LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

Delaney--4 (almost 5) Months

So last time I saw Delaney I got a lot of this:

I know Delaney's mom Johna got the matching onesie and headband from an Etsy store. I'll try and get the name to link to it. You can't see them in the photos, but her socks matched too! It was such a cute combo.

Abdelhadi Family

Ola and her family were our neighbors for a few years up until a couple weeks ago. Our girls played together in the backyard often in the summer. I know my girls will surely miss having them there to play with anytime. But luckily, they didn't move too far so I'm sure we'll see them every now and then. I had the opportunity to visit their new house to take a few photos when they had to get dressed up for a fundraising event they were attending. I walked in and was absolutely wowed by Ola's dress! Sooo AMAZING!

Maifeld Family

Ahhh....the first of many indoor sessions to come. This is bittersweet for me, only because it means we're to the end of the lovely outdoor season. On the other hand, it was fun to switch things up and do something indoors and use my backgrounds! And fun to meet a new family! Carter and Emerson were so patient with me! I took a ton of photos of them and they did a pretty good job!

 

Beth--Senior Photos

I met Beth and her mom at Minnehaha Falls last week for a senior photo session. Oh my, I had so much fun with this session! Holy cow! How wonderful to just concentrate on taking the photos and not have to worry about the subject jumping up and running away after two clicks of the camera. Very refreshing--not that I don't enjoy my sessions with the little kiddos. This was just a fun change of pace. And the light was A-MAZING! I just LOVE the way these photos turned out and cannot wait to edit the rest of them. I am really excited to do more senior sessions in the future!

Jeska Family

I headed to the Arboretum last weekend with the Jeska family. It was great fun to how little Johanna has grown. She is sooo verbal for her age! Makes me a little jealous as my son (just two months older than her) says 1/10th of what she does. And boy was she a trooper with the chillier temps. It was also really cloudy and dark. Despite the cooler temps and not so perfect weather, it was fun to see the Jeskas again!
